AT LONDON ROAD HAIR SALON, WE HAVE HAIR EXTENSIONS TO SUIT EVERY STYLE AND EVERY BUDGET WITH NO COMPROMISE ON QUALITY
London Road Micro Ring WeftThis will achieve luxurious fuller hair in just over one and a half hours - no clips, no braiding, no damage and no glue. This temporary system is gentle to your hair, more natural and less expensive.
Idea for in between hair and allows you to have glamourous hair while growing your own or just a super temporary look.
London Road Pre-BondedThese are pre-bonded individual strans with a natural Keratin protein glue bond attached. Keratin promote growth and is king and gentle on your hair. They are applied individually with heat and are sealed to your hair in a very discreet bond which lasts 3-4 months. You will be advised as to how to look agyer these and how to prevent loosening by correct maintenance and choosing the correct shampoos etc. Bonds are safely and easily removed using a special solution. You would require at least 3hrs to apply depending on how many you choose to have. This will all be discussed at the consultation. Bonds are durable and easy and suitable for most hair types.
London Road Micro RingMicro rings are small rings with protective silicone inside that will protect your hair from damage. The technique takes some of your hair together with an individual stick tipped extension which is secured with a metal ring. The silicone lining grips your hair whilst also protecting and there is no use of glue, heat or anything else. They work better with dark hair preferably medium to thick hair as they are more likely to show or slip out on fine hair. They require tightening every 6-8 weeks. The clamped rings will move down as your hair grows and will need to be opened and moved up. This method is quick and easy to apply and remove.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between a full head of extensions and half a head?
Most clients go for a full head of extensions as you get the maximum fullness and thickness, and they blend completely with your own hair. A full head of extensions is suitable for most hair types, although if your hair is very thin or fine the extensions may be visible higher up so a half or three quarter head would be more suitable. Half a head of extensions is mainly to add thickness without adding much length, so if a client already has fairly long hair they may want to just make it a bit thicker.
Which method should I go for?At the free consultation we will determine which method is most suitable for your hair type / lifestyle.
How long does it take to fit the extensions? For the individual strand methods on average it takes a maximum of three hours to fit a full head, around two to two and half hours to fit a three quarter head, and an hour and a half to fit half a head of extensions. For the London Road weave and micro weft extensions it takes around one to one and half hours.
Can I still tie my hair up with extensions in?Yes, it is still possible to tie your hair up with extensions in as they are applied away from the parting and away from your hair line. It is not recommended to tie them very tightly, or wear them in a very high ponytail as the bonds / rings may become visible. The London Road weave is the best method if you plan on wearing your hair up often, as it is only applied to a few rows.
Can I go on holiday with extensions in?Extensions are great for holidays as you can just wake up with long flowing hair and leave it naturally wavy without having to straighten or blow-dry it. It is recommended that you put your hair into a loose plait and coat it in conditioner whilst sunbathing and swimming. This way the hair will be protected from heat, chlorine and sun damage, and will stay in good condition.
Can I straighten and curl the extensions?Yes, as the hair is 100% human hair you can curl it, straighten it, and blow-dry it. It is important to use heat protection if you straighten or curl it so that it stays in good condition.
Can I dye the extensions? If you want to discuss colour then please call in and speak to the staff at London Road Hair and Beauty. We can provide a whole range of colour possibilities as part of our after service care. Any colour changes made following the provision of hair extensions that are either done by the client or by another salon will void any claim on London Road Hair and Beauty Ltd for the original service we provided.
How do I prepare my hair for getting hair extensions fitted? On the day of the fitting please make sure your hair is washed, preferably with a clarifying shampoo which ensures all oil and residue is removed from your hair. This is more important if you are having the pre-bonded method of extensions. If you don’t have a clarifying shampoo then a normal shampoo is fine. Please do not apply any styling products or conditioner anywhere near the roots as this can affect the adhesion of the keratin bonds, or cause micro rings to slip. Please come for your appointment with your hair straightened and in its usual parting.
How do I look after hair extensions? There is a lot to cover in this question so we have a special after care sheet which provides most of the information you will need to know to care for your hair.
My hair is very thick and cut in a bob, can I still have extensions?Yes, and as part of your consultation we will advise you on the work we will do to ensure the extension fit naturally. We will always give you the best advice even if it means you decide not to have extensions fitted.
How long does my hair need to be to have hair extensions?Ideally your hair needs to be able to fit into a ponytail, even if it’s just a short stubby one. This ensures that your hair will blend with the extensions and look natural. Extensions can be fitted to shorter hair but it depends on the style. If your hair is very short then the bonds may be visible and you wouldn’t be able to have extensions, so it is important that you come for a free consultation so we can make sure it’s suitable.
Do I have to come for a consultation first? We do recommend that clients come for a free consultation before deciding whether to go ahead with having extensions fitted. A consultation generally takes 15-20 minutes.
Do I have to pay a deposit when I book?A deposit of £50-£100 is required upon booking so your hair can be ordered and to secure your appointment. The deposit is non-refundable and will be lost if the appointment is cancelled. It is deducted from the total amount payable on the day.
Will the extensions damage my hair?As long as extensions have been applied correctly, properly maintained, and properly removed they will cause little or no damage to your own hair (depending on the quality of your hair to begin with). Picking at bonds and being rough whilst brushing causes the most damage. We will provide you with an after care sheet to help you care for your hair in the best way.
Can I remove the extensions myself? We will always provide you with the best advice and lowest cost if you want your hair removed. We do not recommend you remove the extensions yourself.
Do I need to give my hair a break in between extension sets? Not necessarily. As long as you have followed the aftercare, used the recommended products, and had your extensions removed professionally, then your hair will be in good condition and you can have another set put straight back in if you wanted to.
Will any extensions come out?Yes, it is normal with all extension methods to lose some of the extensions during the time they are in. Some clients only lose a couple and other clients lose more as it just depends how gentle you are when looking after them.
After Care
Every Day Care- To prevent your hair extensions from knotting while you are a sleep, your hair should be plaited
- Best use a soft pillow to prevent the extensions digging into your scalp
- Never go to bed with your hair extensions damp as this can lead to hygiene issues
- Use a hair extension brush and always start mid length holding each section as you brush down towards the ends. Do not use excessive pressure when brushing
- When close to the roots put your hand over the extensions to support them. Never brush the hair when it is wet
- You can expect to lose 5 – 20 extension during the 3 months of wear
- Human Remy hair can be curled or straightened and blow dry like normal hair, however heated appliances should not come into contact with the bonds / rings as this can weaken or melt them
- You should not wear your hair up too tightly for the first 2 weeks. If you do this might cause discomfort or in some case breakage where they have just been applied
- Sun beds are fine so long as you wrap a towel around your head beforehand
- Avoid chorine and sea water coming in to direct contact with the hair extensions. Tying your hair or wearing a swimming cap is advisable
- High buns and top knots work well with extensions on holidays
- The sun can leave hair extensions dry so use conditioner and Argan oil regularly
- Be careful not to get tanning oil on to the hair extension as it can alter the hair shade in some cases
- The human head losses between 70 – 100 hairs per day, therefore some of the hair that have come loose naturally may be caught in the hair extension and will be viable at the root, you will be able to see some loose strands with the roots attached, this is perfectly normal
- Maintenance appointments must be attended every 4-6 weeks and hair extensions must be removed by professionally trained staff
Washing and Drying Hair Extensions
- Hair must be brushed before washing to remove any tangles
- When washing hair, the head must be tilted backwards under warm running water and a special hair extension shampoo should be used on the hair
- Gently massage the scalp with your fingertips, using a downward zigzag motion to avoid tangles
- The hair should be squeezed gently after shampooing to remove excess moisture and a conditioner should then be applied to the mid length and ends only avoiding the roots and the treatment can be left on for around 5 minutes
- Rinse the hair thoroughly and remove excess water by squeezing the water out and wrap hair in a towel for 10 minutes
- Apply Argon Oil to the mid lengths and ends of the damp hair and a wide toothed comb should be used to gently comb through the extensions working upwards starting at the ends of the hair in sections
- Hair should be blow dried on a cool setting with the airflow pointing downwards this gives shine to the hair
- Once all of the hair extensions are completely dry, apply a small amount of Argan Oil to the ends of the hair extensions and use your loop brush to brush your air through
Dry the thoroughly first and then rough dry the hair with a hair dryer, ensuring the end of the hair dryer does not touch the hair. Once the hair is virtually dry use the hair dryer to style or you can use straightening irons to finish.
Blow DryingYou can also blow dry the hair extensions by splitting into sections and using either a paddle brush or a very soft round brush. Please be careful not to excessively pull on the roots as this can cause hair loss. Avoid the use of hooded hair dryers as the hair extensions and especially Micro-fusion bonds can get damaged by the excessive heat.
Top TipUse your detangling brush before washing and conditioning. After brushing, shampoo and condition your hair in the shower, then rinse and dry without delay. Finally add your Argan oil to finish.
London Road Hair extension staff can give you advice and please ensure you prebook maintenance appointments to get the maximum use and benefit from your hair extension.
